Hand selected photographic image from the stop motion animation titled ‘Fathom’.
These deepsea ambitions host a dinner party that begins with elegant cuisine, and delineates into icky, slimy, and foreboding. Fed by a flurry of marine snow, mermaid tears, and fish fingers.
Many hands dance from above, thrust on a family of rough skates (rays) stationed as chairs who gaily embrace the clammy, leafy, humanoid ‘monsters’.
The mermaid of many hands is a guardian/oracle symbol, a live action performance of three dancers. The costume and dance was created and choreographed at a residency in Ubud, Indonesia, on a fellowship residency supported by a DESA X Gertrude Contemporary Partnership.
